Project Upstream requests feedback

Hello, readers of themissinghat. We are Project Upstream.

Recently, we have noticed this community taking an interest in us -- and specifically, our Salmon-themed AIM bots. We respect your curiosity, and in order to foster an open relationship between Project Upstream and themissinghat, we would like members of your community to provide us with feedback.

All interested individuals are encouraged to speak directly to us, saying whatever they would like, by making comments on this entry. Submit feedback, or ask us questions; it is up to you.

Unfortunately, the nature of our operation requires certain information about us to be kept out of the public eye. For that reason, we will respond to comments, and answer questions, at our discretion only. But don't let that stop you from making some great comments on this entry! We look forward to reading them all.

What I want to know is if this is all random or not. I have been salmoned many times, but I've been salmoned a lot more over the past few days. I haven't been posting more, though...

Please stop this

I'm really glad you have enough time to waste playing annoying games, have you ever considered getting a real job?

I would like to know how to block this. I find it to be a rude and annoying thing to deal with.

Please, please stick thumbtacks into your eyes.
Your shens have caused inordinate pain to people who don't deserve it, and reporting people to LJA for abuse when they rip you a new asshole is the lowest form of craven cowardice. Step the fuck off, dipshit.
This "experiment" is nothing more than a weak attempt o gain some sort of e-fame and notoriety. OH WOW LET'S ANNOY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, IT WILL BE AN "EXPERIMENT". You know what that makes you? The equivalent of that Crazy Frog ringtone thing.

I am sure AOL would like seeing you abuse their network by illictly harvesting names from the internet. This makes you a spammer, no matter which way you look at it. UNSOLICITED BULK MESSAGES.

I'm going to go away and research the best way of getting your stupid experiment finished and your asses dragged into court. As much of an Internet Tough Guy I am, I unfortunately don't like my chances.
Interesting idea and concept. I really like it!
So let me get this right...
You track down AIM names.
Harass them continuously.
Repeat until they are sick of you.
Then report *them* to LJ Abuse?

How pathetic can you get?

If you are talking about normalcyispasse, I'm the one who reported him while deleting his five pages of comments. Considering he left them on a post in the community I moderate, I felt no other option was suitable. I will not tolerate trolling/spamming in this community. The user salmonmaster had no part in deleting the comments or reporting him, however.

Is there a way my sn can be taken off the list

I think the whole thing is sort of lame, and quite annoying.

I'm taking this to the next level in Atlanta

Thanks for the inspiration. I'll be wearing my LIVEJOURNAL.COM shirt tomorrow...

Here's the paste of a 19 year old caught on the hook. While I learned his name and his major moral belief I unfortunately did not learn his secret. Fun times, good experiment.
I don't enjoy being randomly connected with people who usually accuse me of being a troll anyway, so please go die in a ditch.
yeah, i'd appreciate it if you, uh, stopped.
I just got hit with "DisorderlyTrout." It's pretty neat.
Every, single time I post an LJ, I get a salmon these days. And I like talking to strangers, but I've kinda stopped posting here because of it.
I have to say I really don't appreciate this salmon/trout AIM project thing. I just now learned what it was, and before I knew I was getting really concerned. Today I got connected with some ignorant ass who just responded with rudeness when I tried to explain what it was and told them to google the community. Usually the other person thinks I'm some sort of bot and just curses at me.

It took me four hits to figure it out, because I would block each sn after a short conversation of "you're a bot" "no I'm not, you're the bot" when it happened. I thought it was one person trying to harrass me who was changing their sn over and over because I kept blocking them.

I think this really needs to stop. It's a cute idea and all, but if you're going to do this to people without explaining what it is then it's just wrong. I almost changed my sn today before I finally got some answers.
